An exploration of the history of Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter and the qualities of silver (Ag) and gold (Au). In this sequence Charles Wilkinson celebrates the materials of the jeweller's craft and the life and skills of generations of nameless makers, as well as individuals as diverse as Thomas Thurstans and John Baskerville. Charles Wilkinson was born in Birmingham. His publications include: The Snowman and Other Poems (Iron Press, 1987) and The Pain Tree and Other Stories (London Magazine Editions, 2000). He is an associate member of Cannon Poets and a member of Tindal Street Fiction Group. His uncle worked in the Jewellery Quarter.
